Incompatibility can result in elements overlapping, cutting off or placement issues, all of which make a site look very unprofessional.

If your website is behind the times there is a very high change you are losing out to your competitors. This is even more likely if your website incorporates some e-commerce functionality, if your website looks outdated visitors are likely to question whether your website security is also outdated.

The truth is no one is ever likely to contact you and tell you they left your website because it was outdated, why would they? Chances are they will just leave and take their business elsewhere, likely to one of your competitors.

While a complete redesign maybe required, it may also be possible to work with and modernise your current website. This really depends on the age of your site and the design platform used.
